- DHCPDISCOVER: DHCP client will request a broadcast to find the DHCP Server is active.
- DHCPOFFER: When the DHCP Server to hear broadcasts from the DHCP Client, DHCP server and then offer an address to the DHCP client.
- DHCPREQUEST: Client request DCHP server to lease IP address from one of the available addresses in DHCP Pool on the DHCP Server.
- DHCPACK: DHCP server will respond to a request from the client by sending an acknowledgment packet. Then, a DHCP server will assign an address (and configure TCP / IP etc.) to the client, and update the databases own database. Clients will begin the process of binding the protocol stack TCP / IP, and because it has an IP address, the client can initiate communication.
Four on the stage only applies to clients who do not yet have an address. For clients who previously had to request an address to the same DHCP server, only stage 3 and stage 4 is carried out, namely a phase address (address renewal), which is clearly more rapid process.
